Full Swing: An Unprecedented Look at Professional Golfers
Netflix's Full Swing is an upcoming immersive documentary series that follows a diverse group of professional golfers on and off the course, across a relentless season of competition.[0] The eight-episode docu-series premieres on Wednesday, February 15th, and will feature a roster of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf stars including Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, Ian Poulter, Joel Dahmen, Matt Fitzpatrick, Dustin Johnson, Tony Finau, Sahith Theegala, Mito Pereira, and Joaquin Niemann.[1]
The series will give viewers an inside look at the week-to-week drama of the PGA Tour, giving unprecedented access to some of the biggest events in golf, including the Masters Tournament, the PGA Championship, the US Open, The Open Championship and the FedExCup Playoffs.[2]
The series incorporates not only the biggest golf events but also the personalities of the players and the stories of their lives. Executive producer, Chad Mumm, and co-producer, Paul Martin, were both surprised by the stories they uncovered and the characters that emerged. “When Paul and I first sat down for a golf interview, I remember sitting with him in the Bahamas, he looked over at me and said, ‘These guys are so interesting’,” Mumm said.[3] “It’s just not what you expect when you think of pro golf. Any time you get a chance to take someone’s expectations and flip it on their head, it’s pretty exciting.”[3]
The players also expressed their excitement for the series, with Ian Poulter teasing “you picked a hell of a year to start following the PGA Tour” in the trailer and Rory McIlroy revealing a congratulatory text from Tiger Woods and saying “He’s always the first.”[4]
The show even had big names like Serena Williams, Shaquille O’Neal, DJ Khaled, Canelo Álvarez, and actor Brian Cox walking the green carpet at Topgolf.[5]
Full Swing will take viewers into a side of golf that has never been seen before.
