2023 LIV Golf Tucson: Cameron Smith Favored, Marc Leishman Leads After Round 1
The second event of the 2023 LIV Golf season is set to take place this week at The Gallery Club in Tucson, Arizona.[0] The tournament will feature the same 48 players and 12 teams that were on display at LIV Golf Mayakoba towards the end of February.[1] The game will start on Friday, March 17.[1]
Cameron Smith is the top pick according to the 2023 LIV Golf Tucson betting odds, with odds of 9-1. Closely following him is Dustin Johnson at 10-1, Joaquin Niemann at 11-1, and Paul Casey and Abraham Ancer tied at 14-1.[2]
Torque GC, led by Niemann and including Puig, is in the top spot at 10 under in the team competition.[3] Smash GC, led by Brooks Koepka and including Wolff, Iron Heads GC, captained by Na, and Fireballs GC, with Garcia as captain and Ancer part of the team, are all tied in second place at 9 under.[4]
Marc Leishman emerged with the lead after the first round of LIV Golf Tucson on Friday in Marana, Arizona. With a 6-under-par 65 at The Gallery South Course, Leishman had the lead by one stroke over Matthew Wolff, Abraham Ancer of Mexico, and Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa.[4] Peter Uihlein, Joaquin Niemann of Chile, and David Puig of Spain are tied for fifth place at 4 under par.[3]
For the first time ever, Dustin Johnson (4Aces GC Captain), Bryson DeChambeau (Crushers GC Captain), and Brooks Koepka (Smash GC Captain) – three of LIV Golf's most prominent figures – were grouped together in the same playing group during a tournament.[5] This is the first time that DeChambeau and Koepka have shared the group since LIV Golf came into existence.[6]
