Scottie Scheffler to Host Masters Champions Dinner with Southern-Style Feast

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world according to the Official World Golf Rankings, is set to host the most prestigious and exclusive dinner in golf.[0] The annual Champions Dinner, held the night before the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club, brings together all living Masters tournament champions who wish to attend for a dinner in honor of the previous year’s winner.[0] In keeping with tradition, the 2022 green jacket winner will be hosting a special dinner for past Masters Champions at Augusta National on April 4. The celebration will be graced with a special menu created by Scheffler himself, providing an exclusive opportunity for those fortunate enough to share the moment with the winner.[1]

The lucky guests are in for a treat, as Scheffler has chosen a Southern-style feast harking back to his Texan roots.[2] The four-course meal will open with cheeseburger sliders that will be served “Scottie-style,” and firecracker shrimp.[3] That will be followed by tortilla soup.[4] Then for the main event, there’s a choice between Texas ribeye steak or blackened redfish, each served with family style mac and cheese, jalapeno creamed corn, fried Brussels sprouts and seasoned fries.[5] What about dessert?[2] A delectable skillet cookie with a glass of milk and a scoop of ice cream is a delight to all![3]

Scheffler’s menu provides a significant contrast to last year’s Champions Dinner menu, when Hideki Matsuyama offered a Japanese-inspired affair including assorted sushi, miso-glazed black cod and Miyazaki wagyu. Matsuyama's menu began with assorted sushi and sashimi, while Scheffler’s menu is a sizeable departure from his predecessor.

“I’m aware I have to say a few words, but, for the most part, it’s kind of a group thing,” said the title-holder ahead of the 2023 Masters, which gets underway on April 6. “I’m not quite sure what the vibe will be like, but I think we are all there to play in the tournament and celebrate The Masters and celebrate all being past champions.”[6]

Scheffler, who is the defending champion, admitted he had not yet fully determined what he would say in his role.[7]
